Search engine marketing definition:
Online marketing or search engine marketing is the process where the right optimization, the right positioning and marketing strategies are used for your web site or web pages to be found on the web.

Please explain the approach you have and give me a sample of such an online marketing strategy. Which service components do you offer?

Online marketing (SEM), is the strategic planning, building of the brand, positioning, online promotions, building of customer centric online communities, advertising etc. to prompt the client to "do what you want them to do" within three clicks (i.e. turn visitors into existing clients).

"Action" could be subscribing to a newsletter (turn visitor into potential client as they give you permission to contact them), enquire (opportunity to interact and turn a potential client into an existing client) or purchase online

This approach requires working closely with our client to determine their capabilities/offering (products and services), compiling a marketing mix, identify the customer's (visitor to web site) needs, determine an approach to fulfill those needs in order for both the customer (person that transact via the web site) and the web site owner to benefit.

This approach requires a briefing from the client (could be online, via e-mail or in person if local) to determine the client's current focus. Target markets are identified.

If the client has an existing web site, we will analyze the site and a report will be provided. We would require that the clients' existing web developers make the changes as per our instructions to optimize the site or if the client wish, we would make the changes on the condition that we obtain access via FTP.

In cases where clients do not have web sites, we would advise and be willing to develop an optimized site.

Once the site is ready, it is launched and an initial submission is done. Paid-for inclusion (please read the terms and conditions in the submission section of directories such as Looksmart, Yahoo, MSN) only gets your site listed in the directory. It does NOT get your site listed under the top search results.

Our approach entails free listings (a saving of around $ 1,500-00 per annum as on 7 /10/2003 for listings in Yahoo, Altavista, MSN, Inktomi, etc) it takes up to 4 - 6 months to get listed depending on the search engine/directory.

Pay-per-click advertising and paid-for submission is available on special request.

In those 4 -6 months, we start implementing the agreed upon marketing plan. Enquiries, web statistics, measuring traffic etc. are used to monitor and measure progress.

After 6 months minimum an analysis is done, report provided to the client and adjustments made.

Based on the above results, we analyze, adjust and re-submit to fine-tune the whole online marketing process. We will advise regarding online promotions, events, launches, the involvement of media etc. to drive more traffic to the site.
