Search engine positioningis the process of ordering web sites or web pages by a search engine or a directory so that the most relevant sites appear first in the search results for a particular query. Search engines index pages, not web sites.
Which engines do you submit to?
Please refer to this article:
Allbusinessnews
According to the above article there are basically just three engines to be listed in, in order to count and that is Yahoo, Google and MSN - the rest are all connected in some sort of way.
Please note that the search engine industry constantly change and we adapt accordingly - as an indication, your site will be optimized and positioned for:
AltaVista, Google, HotBot, Yahoo! Web Pages, MSN, Lycos, Iwon, Fast/AllTheWeb, Direct Hit, LookSmart engine, AOL Web Sites, Overture/Excite, FindWhat, Netscape, About.com, Open Directory, ICQSearch, AskJeeves and Jayde as well as secondary engines, and spiders
How regular do you submit?
We sumbit web sites once and check after the first 6 months if the site is listed. If not listed, we will investigate and re-submit if necessary.
What about foreign search engines?
During consultation we determine the client´s target market. Major search engines are now providing local search (Google.co.za vs Google.com) as well.
We position products and services based on local and International target markets.
What´s more important in your strategy, free submissions or paid submissions?
There is no preference. At this stage we enjoy success with ethical search engine positioning rendering organic results. Paid-for inclusion depends on client side budgets.
